I work closely with Dr. Nelson's research team on the Calhoun Critical Zone project. I contribute to database development, data analysis and am learning GIS skills. My future plans are to attend James Madison University, and major in geography with a minor in anthropology. I would like to study abroad and do undergraduate research in these fields.
I currently attend Clarke Central High School and my internship at UGA is through the Young Dawgs program. This is a program through which high school students leave work with a UGA faculty member working in a field of interest. Each semester of work at UGA culminates with a final presentation and research paper over a topic of choice in our field of study.
I am currently working alongside Dr. Nelson and Shelly Biesel on a project titled Adaptive Management of Drought Risk as a Strategy for Reduction of Climate Change Impacts. I am focusing on the background literature regarding water ethics, and how these ethics can be used to clarify water problems and in the management decision making processes.
I am a second year CURO Honors Scholar majoring in both Ecology and International Affairs. In addition to my research, I am also passionate about working with an on campus nonprofit called Shop With a Bulldawg, which raises money to bring the holiday season to the children of Athens. In the future, I hope to attend graduate school and work to develop a more sustainable future, both in the US and internationally.
