Spencer Kellum
My research interests involve elements of social-ecological systems and how we humans - both in groups and individually - use adaptive management to promote or degrade biodiversity and ecosystem services in the face of climate change. I envision engaging in comparative studies of managed ecosystems at multiple scales to understand why and how human actors are down-scaling climate science to sustain biodiversity and ecosystem services into the future. I am particularly interested in a multi-method approach that includes ethnographic techniques, historical analysis, participant observation, geo-spatial analysis, and original field research.
I love to back-pack, hike, bike, camp, canoe, and play several sports. My hobbies are a thinly veiled excuse to get outside, to move, and engage with the natural world. My life and work is based in a personal interest in being conscious, resilient, and adaptable to life's changes and challenges.
