Nkosi Sibanda is a researcher and a development practitioner with close to a decade of experience with both regional and global institutions. He holds a BSc in Environmental Engineering, a Postgrad in Geospatial Data Science and an MSc in Environmental Policy. He is currently the Director of the Center for Environmental and Corporate Accountability (CECAR), a Southern Africa based institution that is committed to leveraging on geospatial technologies to drive social change across Africa. He has contributed research to the UNCCD, UNRISD and the UN OHCHR on natural resource governance, spatial and restoration ecology, and just energy transition. He is currently a UNDRR GETI Scholar, focusing on accelerated integration of geospatial data in disaster preparedness and recovery. His current projects through CECAR are focused on environmental monitoring of the extractive industries, climate vulnerability mapping for the agricultural sector, energy vulnerability and suitability mapping as well as forest restoration and carbon sequestration monitoring frameworks."
