Jonathan Hallemeier
My research explores the intricacies of conflict and collaboration in the management of multiple-use landscapes. Collaboration is essential for successful, equitable, and flexible management, yet it can be difficult to develop among people with diverse values, cultures, and understandings.
I investigate contention through the various stories people tell about landscapes and the ways in which dissonance among stories is reinforced or bridged within collaborative attempts. I currently work in the Nantahala-Pisgah National Forest in the southern Appalachians, studying the interplay of landscape change, landscape narratives, and collaborative processes. Links
